PLC Sales Ltd. is now marketing a new light-weight outrigger pad manufactured by L-SIM.  These pads have undergone extensive pre-market testing at Delft University in Holland, fatigue test loading of 400 kN and vertical jack load through 25,000 cycles, resulting in a 100% pass grade.

This product will change the way we look at steel outrigger pads, as not only are they 6 times lighter, pro rata, durable and do not offer theft opportunities as steel does and are less costly.  The original concept came from the aircraft industry in the design and manufacture of air frames and wings.

The composition of the pads is a specially developed light weight composites sandwich construction for heavy duty applications.  The sandwich construction has a special core with horizontal thermo plastic polypropylene cells.  The bottom face of the sandwich is a thermoset vertical glass-epoxy laminate, whilst the top face is a cork rubber sheet material, having non-slip properties.
